Hello there, I want to build a render farm, and I was digging in your site and found this configuration.
CPU: AMD Threadripper 1900X 3.8GHz 8-Core Processor ($179.99)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 ($89.95)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X399 Designare EX ATX TR4 ($272.31)
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080TI 11GB - Asus Turbo ($1299.99)
GPU #2: Nvidia RTX 2080TI 11GB - Asus Turbo ($1299.99)
GPU #3: Nvidia RTX 2080TI 11GB - Asus Turbo ($1299.99)
GPU #4: Nvidia RTX 2080TI 11GB - Asus Turbo ($1299.99)
Memory: 128GB (8 x 16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2666 C16 ($580.52)
Storage SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($232.85)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 80+ GOLD 1600W ($499.00)
Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 Titanium Big Tower Case ($386.00)
Total: $7440.58

But makes me wondering about the benefit of having 4 graphic cards in the same system. what is the advantage?. this configuration is equal to have four computers?.

Thank you for you time.

Hey hto,
That particular build is meant for GPU rendering. So if you're doing 3D Modeling, Animation, VFX and workloads like those, you'll need a lot of GPUs for fast Rendering. With 4 GPUs your renders will be almost 4 times as fast as with just one.

4 GPUs won't help you in most general workloads, though. You can't make use of them for Design or Word-processing for example, and can't make use of them in gaming.

Cool Alex, thank you for your response. And yes the idea is to render 3d and FX animation. Ive been reading this article of your site.

Trying to find a good combination of components.

All the best

Sure let me know of any specific questions. It'll depend on your budget and render engines and other workloads you're looking to run on the PC.
