Hey there,
so I've read a ton of articles and I'm feeling a little bit cleverer, but more confused at the same time.
So of course, I need a new laptop because my current one just can't keep up with the tasks I need to do. What do I do? I'm a graphic design student and work mostly with InDesign, Premiere, PS (only basic stuff) AE and Lightroom (then several hundred images). I usually have several programmes open at the same time (and watch/listen to something on the side).
My biggest problem at the moment is the rendering times. I usually export: 3-10 minute videos with lots of effects and layers, and 30-40 minutes, which are mostly simple clips in H.265/FHD.
That's why I've been looking at these laptops so far. It's important to me that I have a) 32 RAM b) a decent display, touch is not a must, but would be very, very great and definitely a reason to buy c) components (RAM, SSD) must be replaceable d) I've never been able to do any gaming with my laptops, but when I do I play Elder Scrolls/Witcher (but it doesn't have to be the most amazing graphics). The Macbook Pro with the M1 Pro is out because I'll probably use the laptop I'm getting now for the next 7-8 years.
So here are a few questions:
1. why doesn't the XMG Neo E22 come up in recommendations?
2. how can I find out about the cooling efficiency?
3. and about the processors: I've read that the Alder Lakes are more powerful, but the jump from i7 to i9 usually makes little sense due to the physical power limit/heating on most models. But what if the i7 is also stuck in an awkward case? And the other thing, in the recommendations, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS, 8-core CPU is also always up front in the laptop search. What is the reason for that?
Laptops I've picked out so far:
1. MSI Creator Z16 A11UET-287
16" QHD+ 120Hz touch, Intel Core i7-11800H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA RTX 3060
2. Dell XPS 15
Intel Core i7-12700H, NVIDIA RTX 3050Ti OR NVIDIA RTX 3050, 32GB (DDR5), 1TBSSD
3. XMG Neo E22
Intel Core i7-12700H, 32GB (DDR5), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti | 8 GB GDDR6, 500GB SSD
(without OASIS)
Thanks forward for answering my questions!
(If you have articles I can read, just post them also)
